RETIREMENT! ---- Closing a chapter and starting a new chapter.

After 34 years, 6 months, and 28 days—or 12,628 days, 1,091,059,200 seconds, or 1,804 weeks—I AM ACTUALLY RETIRING!  Today is my last day at the office.    😍

Honestly, I probably should say after 48 years of working, I am retired. I started working at the young age of 12— (actually going to a workplace, having a boss, and earning my own money .. Thanks to Charlies Catfish! Love my Rayner Family). Maybe that’s why I’m so ready to be RETIRED… 48 years is a LONG time working.

Yes, you read that right. It’s official, and I can finally say it out loud. I’m happy… and I’m sad. I truly didn’t expect some of the emotions I’m feeling right now.😬

I literally grew up at Sanderson—now Wayne Sanderson. I started here straight out of college. I had babies while working here, watched them grow up, and now I have grandbabies—all during my time here. I’ve made some incredible friends along the way. We are family. Walking away feels a bit like leaving something I’ve always known. 😞

They say retirement comes with a big adjustment, and I guess I’ll soon find out. I always thought I’d retire from Sanderson under the same leadership I started with, but life has a way of throwing curveballs. I never imagined I’d be retiring from Wayne Sanderson, but I am grateful that after the merger I was able to stay on and reach my longtime goal of retiring at 60. 🥰

As that milestone got closer, I often thought, But I’m still so young… maybe I should wait until 65. But now I know—it’s time. Time for more family time. Life is short, as I’ve seen firsthand. I don’t want to take a single moment for granted.

So, wish me luck as I begin this new retirement adventure. And don’t worry—YAYA won’t be sitting still! I plan to babysit, love on my grands, and enjoy every minute with them. We only have a short window when they’re little, and I plan to be there for all of it. 💗
